Daily Devotionals by Pastor Howard King
(All scripture is from the KJV)
In todays worldly view love is a award, or praise from another. It can be a applause or support for a perverted lifestyle. BUT that is not God's Love!
We see in these verses what love is by what Paul describes as a action in Godliness.
2Th 3:5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
Paul desires and prays for the Lord to direct their hearts into the Love of God.
He then exhorts them to do something. He commands them to action! The Love of the Lord will always contain some sort of work. Some sort of Godly action!
..6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
You see Love is righteous and holy and should not be mixed with sin. It should not be tainted by a distorted perverted idea of love. Which is really LUST! Love is always in mans best interest toward God! Or we could say it is always for God's best interest for man.  Withdrawing from people is the only type of discipline we can show man that they are wrong, sinning and in need of repentance! We want them to repent and walk by faith. We want them to be saved. We want them to live a Godly, righteous and holy life. We want them to worship and give God the Glory. We want them to have LIFE!!!
...7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 8 Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: 9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. 13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
These verses start with Love and end with doing good!!!  Do Good by walking in Love! Love is Action in Righteousness!

Pastor's, Churches and Covid!
When I hear pastor's, churches and others say they losing their constitutional rights because of covid I am appalled. They start thinking conspiracy and Satan's tools are in place.
The reality is that most pastors are thinking of themselves and their jobs and financial lost when things are closed. So many churches are in such horrible debt that they can not afford one bad month. They owe so much per month on the land or buildings that they can't stay afloat with out money coming in. The staff's are so huge in some of these churches that I am blown away at how much comes off the top for salaries. Millions of dollars are going to staff and buildings.
The church is not a building or even a particular staff body. It is not a product or organization.
Col 1:18 "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence".
and It is a living organism
Eph 1:20 "Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all".
and we are apart of that organism
Rom 12:5 "So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another".
I know I am a simpleton but I would rather be a simpleton than a abuser or coveter than a  pastor who puts others in harms way for the sake of money and self centered reasons! I would rather receive the word of God as it says than to build on it for my own self interest.
After all Paul says in 2Co 11:3  "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ".

Why I don't say The Lord's Prayer!
I have been to events were they want to say the Lord's Prayer. I often hear believers say they know "only" the Lords prayer. This is what they call the Lord's prayer...
Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
This is why I don't say the Lords prayer AS A PRAYER! Now I may say it to tell you about it but i don't say it as my prayer for that day or time.
It is a prayer that Jesus was teaching "HOW" to prayer not to "ALWAYS" pray. It was to the 12 because they really did know how to pray to a personal God with a personal relationship. God was to big for them to even say His name. In fact to this day they will say or write G-D.  It is a prayer prior to the cross and without blood shared for our sins. It is before the Spirit was given to dwell "IN" man! And it was before the revelation of the mystery to the gentiles and the Body of Christ was formed. You also want to take notice that in verse 15 that forgiveness is conditional. "IF" ye forgive, you will be forgiven" but "IF" you don't forgive you will NOT be forgiven"!!! That is NOT what we have been told nor experienced. We have been forgiven so forgive! Eph 4:32, Col 2:13, 3:13
1Th 5:17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
No we are told to prayer daily without ceasing. We are told to relate to God in a personal way always and at all times. We are told share all our burdens and praise Him, thank Him and glorify Him!
So don't quote the Lords prayer as your prayer but rather pray to God in all things for He loves to spend time with you!

Recently I read were Bill Gates and His wife are divorcing. I also read, although it may be rumor  yet there is usually is a speck of truth, that he had one weekend a year for 20 years with a Ex girl friend. WHAT!!
Rom 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Boundaries are needed. In ALL relationships boundaries are needed. In all relationships there needs to be a respect of choice. In all relationships there needs to be honor.
IF not there is what the bible calls defrauding another. We defraud others by seeking our own needs before God's or mans. We defraud others by not considering their feelings. I have seen over and over people being "over" friendly with ex-spouses, ex-boy or girl friends and even living with them. I have seen ex's living with each "like" husband and wife but not marring for the sake of a dollar. I have seen family members stay friends with ex's regardless of the feelings of their family!
1Co 6:8   Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.
1Co 7:5  Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
1Th 4:6   That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
Sometimes in the name of Christian "love" people don't see boundaries or even think that boundaries restrict God's love but that is not true. Boundaries show respect, honor and love for all!!!
God set boundaries on everything. God loves every one but you don't go to heaven nor are you saved without crossing the line of faith by FAITH IN CHRIST!

Tit 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
I have family and friends that go to church regularly but that does not make them Saints in Christ. Going to a building or fellowship does not make you a believer. Holding a office in the church does not make a Christian. Reading devotionals or being water baptized does not make you a follower of Christ.
The Pharisees were people who were of the utmost religious group that there was yet they did not follow Christ. Paul was a Pharisee yet he tried to wipe out the church and was a enemy of Christ.
Mat 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
... 13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!...
14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! ...
15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!...
16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say,...
... 23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!...
24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.....
25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!....
26 Thou blind Pharisee,....
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!.....
29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!..........
Religious folks are just as lost as any other person who does not go to church but perhaps worse off because they think they are saved and they know what to say to defend themselves. Prideful, arrogant and rebellious is a way of describing them. Argumentative and controlling is the way they operate.
There is more to being saved then just going to church and we should discern between them. It does no one any good to stick our head in the sand and say "we are not to judge"!

How doctrine affects us emotionally!
Knowledge of the scriptures affects us in many different ways. It is not just knowledge without purpose, but rather knowledge of Christ works and by faith we begin to be set free emotionally.
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
"BUT NOW" means we have everything we need in Christ!!! "BUT NOW" we have peace through Jesus Christ. "BUT NOW" we have every Spiritual blessing in Christ. "BUT NOW" we no longer need to perform to be accepted by the God of the universe.
The Law is abolished through Christ. Christ has satisfied God the Father's requirements for sin for ever and therefore the Law's requirement for sin is paid. The blood of Christ is the sufficient ordinance and therefore the Law has been completed. No need for more ordinances! No need for anything else!!! The Law's ordinances were just a shadow of the real deal that Christ did. Christ is the real deal and He has paid the price and is alive in You!
So when you realize this in every situation and daily put on His Acceptance you will have been set free from the constant feelings of rejection and have emotional freedom. So read, know and understand the gospel of grace through the doctrine that was given to Paul and you will have emotional rest!

So often I am asked what do I mean by Mid-Acts doctrine. Mid Acts is the time when Paul was saved and a New church and doctrine is created. This New doctrine is the dispensation of grace dispensed to gentiles with out Law and without Israel.
Act 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
It is not "just" about Paul being the Apostle to the gentiles Yet he is!
Rom 11:13  For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
BUT it is about the grace message that is introduced and first given to Paul as the pattern for today!
1Ti 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
Mid Acts doctrine is the doctrine for today. It is the beginning of the church called the Body of Christ in the dispensation of grace by the revelation and in the fellowship of the Mystery!

Natural vs Spiritual!
Have you ever had a conversation with someone who claims to be a believer or church goer but just never understands anything spiritual. OR never can humble themselves to others and receive correction or instruction. And can't figure out the problem! And then get frustrated and sometimes we blame ourselves for not explaining or not knowing the bible well enough.
Well there is a reason for that.
You see when we humble ourselves and come to realize we are lost sinners in need of a Savior we then by faith receive life by Jesus Christ. We are regenerated and have the Spirit of God living within us.
1Co 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
There is a change immediately and then there is a maturing process. Humbleness is part of that process. Instead of saying "No I don't believe that and won't listen" A spiritually alive and regenerated believer will stop and consider what is said and go to the Lord with the info and words spoken to them.He will repent, renew and rest in Christ. He will reconcile if needed and seek forgiveness from the offended one.
On the other hand a Natural man can not understand and will not consider things. They will argue, defend and justify their actions. The natural man is still a dead, rebellious sinner! They don't "receive" the things of God, but will continue to be independent, prideful and foolish.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Don't keep trying to get a dead corps to "do" something they can't, they need to first be ALIVE IN CHRIST!
By the way this does not mean that that the natural man will always be rude he may even try to consider but ends up dismissing truth anyway. Nor does it always mean that the spiritual man will not rebel some too but then he is walking by the flesh which "looks" like the natural man!!!!
Keep walking by the spirit and you too will LIFE and PEACE!!!
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

2Ti 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Most pastors, teachers and leaders do the church a miss service by only teaching from the pulpit. Most believe this is discipleship, but it is not. Preaching is important but preaching is not just from the pulpit. I have seen way to many pulpit only teachers live in a self isolated, self serving and self centered lifestyle. They need to see their own sin in doing this!
Preaching means proclaiming and the best way to proclaim Christ is through discipleship. This is why we read Christ rebuking Peter so often. This is why He sat and lived with the 12 so much. Sitting around the camp fire and sharing life does allot more than just keep you warm.
2Ti 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
To disciple means spending time with them one on one. Discipleship is teaching but it is also rebuking, correcting and exhorting others to repent, renew and rest on the Lord. It is helping them to be "dependent" on Christ and not on their own abilities!
Gal 4:19  "My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,..."
It is showing and telling them the truth and were they are wrong and fall short. It takes guts and perseverance to walk someone through the process.
Discipleship is not just a lesson but it is giving ones life for the other! Just like a parent would do for a child so must we do for each other!

When we give thanks  and are thankful for all that God has given to us, we than place ourselves in a more humbling position.
Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
We are grateful for salvation and eternal life in Christ. We are secure so we can give to others knowing who we are in Christ. We give instead of take and by doing that we love one another.
In all relationships there will be tough times. We need to always rely on scripture to guide us and tell us what to do and who we are in Him. By allowing scripture to rule we then will not run on our own emotional road, but rather have boundaries to bring us to our senses. This is why a "legal" marriage is important. While we may get mad at our spouse we still are legally connected. The consequences of divorce attacks a lot of things. Every area of our lives can be at a loss. So we stop and process and then come to our senses.
Scripture does the same thing only under grace! When our heart is hard, law tells us we are wrong, but grace tells us what to do and how to fix. Grace tells us to receive from God. To put off and put on! Put on God's love and forgiveness and give to your spouse.
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
As we have received from God now we can love, honor and respect each other. Read, follow and let God's word rule your  relationships.

Honor and dishonor!
We are called to honor one another.  Rom 12:10 "Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;"
We are to respect and be honest with each other. We should not manipulate one another for our own gain. We should not defraud one another by taking advantage in some way.
I find there are those who no matter what they are confronted with will change, manipulate to protect themselves. Their heart and minds are darkened.
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Eph 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
No matter what is said they slither away from taking self responsibility. No matter what you say it won't stick. It is like throwing spaghetti against the wall. It will fall at some point and not stick!
The best way to handle these type of people is to not talk to them and to separate. Wait until they do come to a true heart change. A true repentance which is a change of mind. Don't keep arguing with them. You can test everything and it will become obvious. They may fake it at first but you will see through it if they continue to argue and not be honest.
At the same time be sure and be honest with your self and check your motives as well. Take a honest appraisal of yourself and if need renew your mind!
Some will always be insecure, dishonest and manipulative. Don't you be one of them!

Symbolism today!
All through the bible we see symbolism. Israel had allot of this and we see it shown in many different ways, like here in Ezekiel.
Eze 1:10  As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
Now this verse is not symbolism but it shows symbolism in the Gospels.
Matthew represents the Lion which is the KING. Jesus is the King of kings!
Mark represents the Ox, which is the servant. Which Jesus is the servant and worker.
Luke is the Man, which shows Jesus as a man.
John is the Eagle which represents the spirit and shows Jesus as the Spirit.
So symbolism is always through out the bible. Have you ever wanted to know the symbolism for today! There is only one and that is we are His Body! The Body is what we are called. The Body of Christ is a moving, active organism and not a organization like "A NATION"! We are free to go through the world and proclaim Jesus Christ. The cross of Christ represents His Work and is seen as a world wide symbol of His death and resurrection!
Col 2:16  Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Don't get caught up in showing any other symbols for they are only shadows of God. But show the real deal and that is Jesus!

God is God and needs no help. He is the authority and no one can counsel Him.
Isa 40:13- Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? 14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
Rom 11:33- O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! 34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
BUT we do need help. We all need each other to help us see ourselves. We all need discipleship which is one of the ways we grow. We mature by reading the word, but in daily living we also must learn to be humble and respect authority. We may have the right doctrine  but wrong attitude. You can always mature in doctrine but a bad attitude may never change! I have seen some of the greatest bible scholars and pastors that have some of the worse attitudes. Cocky, prideful and defensive on everything and toward every one. Many are so anxious they never stop and look at themselves honestly.
If we can not receive from man who we can see how will we ever receive from God whom we can not see! Asking for help and guidance is a good thing and those that don't are truly showing their pride and arrogance. They are being god of their own lives and not submitting to Jesus as even Jesus submitted to His Fathers will!
Seek help and guidance and don't be a Lone Ranger. Only God can be God and not need help.
